Kris Humphries posts double-double in OT win

The Minnesota Gophers struggled in the first half and trailed by as many as 18 points, but rallied for a 74-69 overtime victory over Duquesne Monday night at Williams Arena. Adam Boone led the Gophers with 21 points, including 14 in the second half. Kris Humphries had his sixth double-double of the season by scoring 20 points and pulling down 10 rebounds after going for just two points in the first half.

Minnesota won for the first time after trailing at halftime this season. The Gophers are now 1-2 when they trail at halftime this year. The Gophers now have a seven-game home winning streak.

The Gophers had a nine-minute scoring drought in the first half, until Boone hit a field goal with 1:57 left to cut the Dukes lead to 32-22. Duquense's Bryant McAllister hit a three-pointer with :04 left to put the Dukes up by 35-22 at the break. The Gophers made just nine of 30 shots (30 percent) in the first half.

The Dukes built an 18-point lead with 14:29 left in the game off a three pointer by Jack Higgins. The Gophers then fought back and went on a 14-0 run with Moe Hargrow scoring five points in a row to give the Gophers a much-needed lift. The Dukes maintained the lead until Minnesota tied the game at 59-59 with 2:42 left in regulation off a Boone trey. The Gophers and Dukes traded baskets until Hargrow's jumper rimmed out as time expired in regulation.

The Gophers took their first lead of the game, 68-67, at 2:07 left in overtime off another Adam Boone three-pointer. Boone finished the game off by hitting 4-4 from the free-throw line and making final score 74-69. Hargrow added 15 points and was six of eight from the line. Kris Humphries has had double-figure scoring in all eight games and he recorded his sixth double-double of the year.

Boone had a season-high 21 points and scored over 20 points for a second straight game.

Eliijah Palmer led Duquesne with 21 points and shot 50 percent from the floor. Bryant McAllister and Tyler Bluemling each added 11 points.

The Gophers resume play on Monday, December 29th versus Nebraska at a 7:00 tip at Williams Arena. Nebraska humiliated the Gophers at Lincoln last season in an 80-60 win.
