FB recruit David Wess is back on the hardwood

6-2, 195-pound quarterback/defensive back David Wess of Whitehall (OH) High, who committed to the Gophers after visiting the campus, is averaging 10.8 points per game on the basketball team. The Rams are off to a 1-4 start, but all four losses came against teams that were undefeated. He missed the 71-67 loss to Granville, due to his visit with Minnesota. They fell 79-78 in overtime to DeSales last night in overtime.

David Wess was named Division II All-State as a defensive back and first-team Central All-District as a quarterback. Wess led his team to a 9-1 mark in regular season and their first playoff spot in 18 years. They won their first playoff game before losing to Columbus (OH) Brookhaven. Wess completed 94 of 135 passes for 1,640 yards during the regular season.
