Future Gopher Natasha Williams off to strong start

Gopher recruit 6-3 Natasha Williams of Skokie (IL) Niles North was recently named Niles North Tournament MVP as she had 20 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots as the Vikings beat Oak Park 63-46 in the championship game. Williams was named Chicago Tribune Athlete of the Week after averaged 24.6 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks per game. The Niles North Vikings (yes, their main color is purple) have won six straight games, improving their record to 12-5 after a slow start.

Natasha Williams is a three-time Street & Smith All-American with sixth-team honors as a junior and honorable mention acclaim after her freshman and sophomore seasons. Williams enters her senior season with 1,100 career points, 950 career rebounds and 330 career blocked shots. She is a four-time All-Central Suburban Conference selection and a 2003 IBCA all-state selection. A Nike All-American Camp participant, Williams joined fellow Gopher signee Lauren Lacey on the USA Basketball Youth Development Festival North Team. Williams averaged 15.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game in Colorado Springs.
