Junior F Job Krabbenhoft makes his college choice

Six-foot-7 junior forward Joe Krabbenhoft of Sioux Falls (S.D.) Roosevelt will announce his verbal commitment Saturday. Krabbenhoft is being called the best player from the state since former NBA Rookie of the Year Mike Miller.

Joe Krabbenhoft shined this summer as a member of the Dakota Schoolers and Howard Pulley AASU teams. He also played in the Nike All-American Camp in Indianapolis. He is attending the Illinois-Wisconsin game Saturday night to check out his future school — Wisconsin. It is the second straight day that the Gophers have lost a South Dakota player to Big Ten rival Wisconsin. In football, kicker Taylor Mehlhaff picked the Badgers over the Gophers yesterday.

Krabbenhoft was named first-team all-state by the AP and led his team to the final four of the South Dakota Class AA state championship.

Krabbenhoft played with Howard Pulley at the Memorial Day Classic, Rumble in the Bronx and Nike Peach Jam play-in games and with the Dakota Schoolers in events such as the Addidas Big Time Tournament and Mr. Basketball Showcase.

Krabbenhoft had received offers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Creighton, Northern Iowa, Xavier, Kansas and Northwestern.

Krabbenhoft missed the start of the season after it was discovered that he had suffered a microscopic crack in the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot on the first day of practice. He underwent surgery and had four points and six rebounds in his first game last night, as Roosevelt defeated Brookings 56-45
