Thomas Tapeh to play in Senior Bowl this weekend

Minnesota fullback Thomas Tapeh will play for the North team in the Senior Bowl Saturday at 4 p.m. CST in Mobile, Ala. The game will be televised on ESPN. Tapeh is ranked as the number three fullback by Mel Kiper and is projected as a fifth- to seventh-round pick. He is hoping to impress the NFL scouts and improve his draft status. He rushed 119 times for 570 yards (4.8 yards per carry) with 11 touchdowns. Tapeh caught eight passes for 86 yards.

Thomas Tapeh will see several familiar faces in the game, as 15 fellow Big Ten players will also play for the North team in the Senior Bowl. They are quarterback John Navarre of Michigan, wide receivers Maurice Brown of Iowa and Michael Jenkins from Ohio State, offensive lineman Sean Bubin of Illinois, Nick Hardwick from Purdue, Shane Olivea of Ohio State and Alex Stepanovich from Ohio State, defensive lineman Tim Anderson from Ohio State and Shaun Phillips of Purdue, linebacker Niko Koutouvides of Purdue, defensive backs Rich Gardner of Penn State, Jeremy LeSueur from Michigan, Bob Sanders (who suffered a hand injury and will not play) of Iowa and Stuart Schweigert from Purdue and kicker Nate Kaeding of Iowa.
