2005 Prospect search: James Ruffin of Burnsville

The Minnesota Gophers have started work on next year's recruiting class. We will begin looking at some of the top prospects in the state. Minnesota landed six in-state prospects in their 24-man recruiting class that they signed earlier in the month. James Ruffin of Burnsville (MN) High visited Minnesota recently and attended the Gophers basketball game versus Illinois.

James Ruffin was at Northwestern's "Junior Day" this past weekend and attend the Wildcats-Wisconsin basketball game. Ruffin is also playing for the Blaze basketball team as a reserve. They are ranked 10th in the state in Class AAAA and are 17-4.

The 6-3, 233-pound fullback finished second on the Blaze in rushing with 97 carries for 381 yards. He scored seven touchdowns for the Blaze, who finished 4-5. Long-time head coach Jay Anderson recently retired and Burnsville has yet to name a replacement.

Ruffin is also hearing from Notre Dame and Iowa.
