Lindsay Whalen, Janel McCarville are All-Big Ten

Lindsay Whalen and Janel McCarville were named first-team All-Big Ten by the conference coaches. Whalen was a unanimous choice for the top honor squads by both the coaches and media. The media named McCarville to their second team.

Lindsay Whalen, a 5-9 senior guard, is the first Minnesota women's basketball player to become a three-time All-Big Ten First Team honoree. This was the third time she was named a unanimous selection. Despite missing the last five games of the regular season, Whalen finished second in the Big Ten in scoring average at 20.7 points per game. She is currently ranked fifth in Big Ten history with 2,186 career points.

Janel McCarville, a junior center, makes her third appearance on the All-Big Ten teams. Last season, the 6-2 McCarville was a first-team pick by the media. She was also a second-team All-Big Ten pick and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2002. McCarville averages a double-double, scoring 15.3 points and pulling down 10.0 rebounds per game. She is also among the Big Ten and national leaders in field goal percentage, shooting 62.3 percent from the field.
