Vincent Grier could commit soon to Gophers

Vincent Grier, a 6-5 shooting guard from Dixie State (UT) CC, who visited Minnesota this weekend, could make a verbal commitment soon. Grier shined in front of the Gopher coaches recently as he had 34 points and 11 rebounds in the Region 18 semifinals. Despite the effort, the #1 seed Rebels lost to College of Southern Idaho, preventing their fourth straight appearance in the NJCAA Tournament.

Grier was named to the Region 18 All-Region team and was also named All-Tournament. Grier averaged 17.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. He shot 50.2% from the field and 71.7% from the line. However, he made just nine of 45 (20%) from three-point range and had 97 turnovers compared to 76 assists.

Grier averaged 5.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game as a freshman at Charlotte before transferring to Dixie. He is a lefty who is a slasher with a good mid-range shot.

Dixie head coach Jeff Kidder had told observers that the Gophers had done the best job recruiting Grier.
