Illinois DB names favorites

Evanston's Jerome Daley had a solid showing at the Chicago MSL/TheInsiders combine and now he's starting to hear from several college recruiters, including the Gophers.

Jerome Daley, a 5-foot-9, 175-pound cornerback from Evanston, Ill. didn't receive any accolades in 2003, but his coach thinks he's going to be a big-time college football player. The Gophers must think so as well.

"Jerome is going to be a big-time college cornerback," said Evanston coach Tony Johnson.

"Not a MAC cornerback. He's a Big Ten-type lockdown cover cornerback. Jerome is so explosive. His body positioning is tremendous and he can run," Johnson said.

Daley doesn't have any scholarship offers yet.

"I'm wide open right now." Daley said. "My top six would be Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota and Iowa.

"I'm going to the Nike Camp at Iowa, but I don't know which summer camps I'll be attending," Daley said.

Daley was a standout at the Chicago MSL/TheInsiders Combine.
