Former Gopher Aliou Kane visiting Dixie State

Aliou Kane, who recently decided to transfer from the University of Minnesota, is visiting Dixie State (UT) CC this weekend. Kane, a redshirt freshman center from Mauritania, Africa, played in 17 games and averaged 0.5 minutes, 0.5 points and 0.6 rebounds per game this season. He will transfer to a junior college and play there for one year and then transfer to a Division I school for two more years of eligibility. Jay Pivec of local Minneapolis (MN) CC is hoping to get involved with Kane.

Aliou Kane grew up in Mauritania, Africa and played at The Blue Ridge School in Dyke, Virginia, where he was first-team all-state and named all-conference his junior and senior seasons.

Dixie State was the home of recent Gopher commitment Vincent Grier, who will sign a letter of intent with Minnesota later this month.

Dixie State is traditionally one of the NJCAA powers and finished first in the Scenic West Athletic Conference this year.
