Vegas guard Harvey Perry Jr. gets Gopher offer

6-4 combo guard Harvey Perry Jr. of Las Vegas (NV) Cheyenne received a scholarship offer from the Minnesota Gopher coaching staff after it watched him Monday. Perry is headed to Brewster Academy next season but is playing with the Arizona Magic AAU team in the Kingwood Classic this weekend in Houston. Perry will be viewed by head coach Dan Monson and assistant Vic Couch Saturday. Perry played in this past summer's Nike All-American camp and scored 15 points in the Magic's opening Kingwood win.

Harvey Perry Jr. averaged 17 points, 12 rebounds and five assists per game as a junior. He is getting interest from schools such as Arizona, Georgia Tech, Arkansas and LSU. Minnesota had been recruiting Perry, due to a relationship with assistant Bill Walker, who had recruited Vegas native C.J. Watson, who is currently at Tennessee.

The Gophers also checked out C.J. Watson's little brother, Kashif Watson, while in town. He is a 6-2 guard from Bishop O'Gorman.
