Gophers seeking Wisconsin defenders

The Gophers have had success in recruiting athletes from Oak Creek (Wis.) High School, and today they are taking the steps to increase the number of Gophers from Oak Creek while visiting two defenders from the high school.

Oak Creek (Wis.) High School has been very good to the University of Minnesota. Five former members of that school went on to play for the Golden Golphers. This year, the Minnesota coaching staff would like to make it seven players from Oak Creek to wear the maroon and gold.

"Minnesota is coming in (today)," Oak Creek head coach Joe Koch said. "They have offered Travis Beckum and Raymond Henderson."

Beckman is a 6-foot-5, 215-pound athlete that can play multiple positions, including defensive end, linebacker and tight end. He has offers from Tennessee, Wisconsin, Florida State and Iowa. Henderson is a 6-foot-5, 243-pound defensive end that also has offers from Notre Dame, Penn State, Iowa and Arkansas.

What are Minnesota's chances with both standout players?

"They both like them," Koch said. "We have sent five players to Minnesota and we currently have two players that are playing there now. We are very familiar with that program."

As a junior, Beckum was selected to the first team all-state by recording 40 solo tackles, 12 sacks and eight interceptions. Henderson recorded 100 tackles and 18 sacks.
