Gopher assistant stops by "The Brook"

Bolingbrook, Ill., defensive tackle Ryan Bain is starting to rack up the scholarship offers. Vic Adamle stopped by "The Brook" this week. Did the Gophers offer Bain a scholarship? Here's the latest.

Ryan Bain, a 6-foot-2, 260-pound linebacker from Bolingbrook, Ill., is one of the top prospects in the Midwest.

Bain's recruitment was slow going at first, but that was because the college coaches couldn't figure out which position he would play at the next level.

Now that the consensus says that Bain will play with his hand on the ground on the defensive side of the football, schools are starting to offer scholarships.

Oregon sent their official scholarship letter in the mail, as has Iowa State. Nebraska has offered a scholarship and Wisconsin says that they are in the process of making an official scholarship offer.

Yesterday, Purdue's Mark Hagan offered Bain a scholarship and Notre Dame's Greg Mattison stopped by Bolingbrook High School and told Raiders head coach John Ivlow that they are very close to offering a scholarship.

Two days ago, Bain told us that Oregon, Iowa State, Nebraska, Michigan, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Minnesota were at the top of his wish list.

Now that Purdue has offered, look for the Boilers to move to the top of Ryan's wish list. Purdue assistant coach Mark Hagan has always done a super job recruiting the state of Illinois and Bain could be the next prospect he signs from the Land of Lincoln.
