California frosh Tyrone Shelley gets Gopher offer

Tyrone Shelley, a 6-5 freshman from El Cajon (CA) Christian, has been offered a scholarship by Minnesota. He averaged 28.5 points per game, second best in the San Diego area ahead of Gopher signee Rico Tucker. Shelley is not just a scorer, as he also contributed 12.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 3.8 steals and 3.5 blocked shots per game.

Tyrone Shelley scored a season-high 51 points earleir this season. Shelley, who is expected to play in the Nike All-American Camp this July, wears a 18 1/2 size shoe. He was named a first-team Harbor League choice.

Shelley is getting early interest from Kentucky, Kansas, UCLA and Arizona, but that list will likely continue to grow.

Terry Tucker, father of Gopher signee Rico Tucker, coached Shelley on the EBO Sports AAU team recently in Las Vegas.
