Ryan Ruckdashel catches Gophers' interest

Ryan Ruckdashel of Apple Valley (MN) Eastview received an offer from Minnesota after attending their football camp in June. Ruckdashel, a 6-6, 255-pound offensive tackle, was named honorable mention All-Lake Conferenece in his first year as a starter after lettering as a sophomore. He has attended the Gopher camp the past three seasons and attended the Gophers basketball game versus Michigan.

Ryan Ruckdashel also wrestles as a heavyweight and has a 20-12 record this season. He also throws the discus and had a best toss of 137 feet.

Ruckdashel is an excellent student with a 3.85 GPA. He was nominated by Eastview High School for the ExCEL (Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership) Award. He was named as one of the 25 students statewide to be recognized. Ruckdashel told me that he plans to major in excerise science.

Ruckdashel also has scholarship offers from Ball State, Northern Illinois and Iowa State. He attended football camps at Iowa State, Wisconsin and Notre Dame. He is also hearing from Northwestern and Iowa. Ruckdashel visited Iowa on Senior Day.

Eastview finished 6-4, losing to Rochester Mayo in the Section I, Class AAAAA semifinals. Ruckdashel is the lone returning offensive lineman. He is expected to play right tackle as well as nose guard on the defensive side of the ball.

Ruckdashel told me that he was recently timed with a 5.06 second 40-yard dash and bench pressed 185 pounds 31 times. His vertical is 28 inches.

Ruckdashel is considered to have excellent techinque as a blocker and has demonstrated good aggressiveness.
