Sophomore linebacker Brandon Owens rejoins team

Sophomore linebacker Brandon Owens rejoined the team after missing the start of fall practice, due to summer school issues. Owens was one of three true freshmen to play during the 2003 season. He moved from free safety to "drop" linebacker for 2004 and is listed second on the depth chart at his position.

Owens, who is changing jersey number from No. 32 to No. 20, reportedly has all the physical tools and characteristics to be the prototypical linebacker that is identified by aggressive and hard-hitting play. He has excellent speed and the ability to change direction

Owens is a 2003 graduate of D.B. Atlantic High School (Fla.). He was named to The Insiders.com/CNNSI.com All-America Team at safety. Owens was ranked as the best safety and the 13th-best player in the nation by TheInsiders.com Hot 100.
