Gophers move to No. 13

The Minnesota Gophers continue their season-long climb up the national polls, reaching No. 13 after their win over Penn State this weekend.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers keep climbing in the polls, ranked No. 13 in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today polls.

Trailing only No. 9/10 Purdue of the ranked Big Ten teams, the Gophers are quietly gaining respect. They are currently ranked ahead of traditional Big Ten powers Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin.

In the Big Ten standings, Minnesota is tied with Wisconsin at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference. In reality, both Minnesota and Wisconsin are chasing 4-0 (1-0) Purdue, which is firing on all cylinders and seems to have both momentum and public opinion on its side.

The Big Ten, according to the polls, seems to be down at this point — with only Purdue in the top 10. But as the reshuffling of the hierarchy in the Big Ten continues, we may see several Big Ten teams in the nation's top 10 in the coming weeks.
