Gopher-Wisconsin FB Game to Appear on ABC-TV

The Big Ten office announced today that the University of Minnesota-Wisconsin football game in Madison, Wis., on Saturday, Nov. 6, will be televised by ABC Sports (KSTP-Channel 5) at 2:30 p.m. This is the eighth announced television appearance for the Gophers in 2004 and the first appearance on ABC Sports since Nov. 2, 2002 when Minnesota played Ohio State in Columbus.

The game against Wisconsin will mark the second time the Gophers have appeared on ABC since they hosted Penn State on Oct. 10, 1998,and will also be the eighth time the Gophers have played on ABC in school history. This will be the 114th all-time meeting between Minnesota and Wisconsin, which represents the most Division I games played between two schools in NCAA history. The Gophers will attempt to defend Paul Bunyan's Axe, which they won from the Badgers 37-34 last season at the Metrodome.

The Minnesota-Indiana game this Saturday, Oct 30, will not be televised. Future Gopher games will be selected under the six and 12-day window of the networks' contract with the Big Ten.

The Gopher men's basketball exhibition against St. Thomas, which is also scheduled for Nov. 6, has been moved from a 1 p.m. start to a noon tip-off to alleviate a time overlap with the Gopher football game.
