MN Recruit Troy Reilly Leads Team To Playoff Win

Troy Reilly, a 6-foot-7, 235-pound tight end from Stevens Point Area Senior High, helped lead the Panthers to a 36-0 win over Eau Claire Memorial in the first round of this year's WIAA Division 1 playoffs. Memorial, who was 8-1 overall and 6-1 on the Big Rivers Conference entering the game and ranked No. 9 by The Associated Press, had averaged 36.2 points a game before Tuesday's shutout. Reilly attended Saturday's Gopher game versus Illinois.

The Panthers improved to 7-3 overall (5-3 in Wisconsin Valley Conference play) with the win. With the victory, Point (7-3) advances to a Level 2 matchup Saturday against Appleton North at Goerke Field. North (10-0) beat Green Bay Southwest 45-0 on Tuesday.

Stevens Point, which entered the game ranked No. 14 by the AP, has been strong offensively this season, scoring 290 points (32.2 average) and finishing second in the conference in scoring (248) and total yards (322.1 average). The Panthers also finished third in the conference in total defense (271.3) and was second against the run (166.8).

Troy Reilly entered the game with 20 catches for 351 yards and four touchdowns. Reilly attended the Gopher football camp in June and received a scholarship offer on the final day of the camp.

Reilly said that he will threw the shot and discus for the track team this spring.
