Minnesota Uses Late Spurt for 77-63 Win over CMU

Jeff Hagen scored 21 points as the Gophers used a 30-8 scoring run to close out the game for a 77-63 win over Central Michigan.

The Gophers trailed 53-47 as Kevin Nelson made a three-pointer with 10:19 left in the game. Minnesota made eight straight free throws to gain the lead at 55-53 with 8:33 remaining.

Jeff Hagen made two more free throws to expand the lead to 65-53 with 4:58 left, the Gophers' 18th straight point. The Chippewas would not get closer than nine points.

Hagen made five of seven shots from the field and was 11 of 13 from the line. He also grabbed five rebounds. Vincent Grier made six of 11 shots and seven of eight from the charity stripe as he finished with 19 points and eight caroms.

Rico Tucker, in his first start, had 12 points. J'son Stamper and Brent Lawson added eight points each.
