Janel McCarville is Co-Big Ten Player of the Week

Minnesota's Janel McCarville was named the Co-Big Ten Conference Player of the Week after leading the #12 Golden Gophers to a pair of conference victories last week. McCarville shares the honor with Penn State senior Tanisha Wright. McCarville and Wright will square off next Sunday in a game at Penn State with the conference lead at stake.

McCarville averaged 20.5 points per game in leading the Gophers to a 73-49 win over Michigan and an 80-68 victory against Illinois. The senior center missed a double-double pulling down nine rebounds in both games. McCarville had 25 points, six steals, five assists and three blocks in 29 minutes of action against Michigan. She played just 16 minutes versus Illinois and finished 16 points.

The award is the fifth Big Ten Player of the Week honor of McCarville's career. McCarville leads the 16-3 (6-1 Big Ten) Golden Gophers in scoring (15.6 ppg.), rebounding (10.2 rpg.), assists (4.1 apg.), steals (2.7 spg.) and blocks (2.5 bpg.).
