Senior Jeff Hagen Scores 10 in P.I.T Loss

Jeff Hagen scored 10 points, but it was not enough as Norfolk Naval Shipyard jumped out to a 15-2 lead and cruised to a 103-69 win over Tidewater Sealants in the final first-round game of the Portsmouth Invitational. Gopher head coach Dan Monson was in attendance to watch the senior center. Hagen's Tidewater Sealants team will play in consolation action at 3:15 Friday. If they win, they advance to the consolation championship Saturday. If they lose, they would be eliminated from further play.

Ed McCants of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Guillaume Yango from Pacific led Norfolk Naval Shipyard with 19 points each. McCants was six of nine from the field and four of six beyond the arc and Yango was eight of 13 from the field. D'or Fischer of West Virginia had 15 points and 12 rebounds. Omar Thomas from UTEP and Mindaugas Katelynas of Chattanooga added 14 points each. Seamus Boxley from Portland State scored 12 points and Taron Downey of Wake Forest finished with 10 points and nine assists.

Tidewater Sealants was led by last-minute replacement Devin Green of Hampton, who scored 14 points. Green replaced Minnesota native Alan Anderson of Michigan State. Lee Cookfrom Bowie State added 10 points.
