Gopher Walk-On Jordan Nuness Transfers to UMD

Gopher redshirt freshman Jordan Nuness has transferred to Minnesota Duluth to play for the Bulldogs next season. Nuness, a 6-foot, 4-inch, 210-pound guard, appeared in nine games at Minnesota this past season, averaging 1.3 points. He scored a career-high six points against the University of North Carolina-Greensboro on Dec. 29. Nuness was redshirted by the Golden Gophers in 2003-04.

Jordan Nuness was named All-State honorable mention in both his junior and senior seasons at Eden Prairie, where he led the Eagles to a 46-12 record. He was twice named All-Lake Conference and averaged 14.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per game as a senior. Nuness' father, Albert, was a basketball letterwinner at Minnesota in the late 1960s. His brother Jared played at Valparaiso University.

"Jordan will give us immediate help," said UMD head coach Gary Holquist. "He's an athletic and long player that can score and defend. His strength and quickness brings another dimension of depth to our existing perimeter game. He is a proven winner that has excellent basketball intelligence."

Nuness is the second Gopher walk-on to transfer to a Division II school since the end of the season. Alex Popp has transferred to Assumption.
