Gophers Get Third National TV Game

The Gophers secured a third game on national television for the 2005 football season.

The Big Ten office announced that the University of Minnesota-Michigan football game in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Saturday, Oct. 8, will be televised by ABC Sports (KSTP-Channel 5) at noon (CT). This is the third announced television appearance for the Gophers in 2005 and the first appearance on ABC Sports for the Gophers since they played Wisconsin last season in Madison.

The game against Michigan will mark the third time the Gophers have appeared on ABC since they hosted Penn State on Oct. 10, 1998, and will also be the ninth time the Gophers have played on ABC in school history.

The Gophers first two games of the 2005 season will also be televised. Minnesota travels to Tulsa for its season opener on Thursday, Sept. 1 in a 9:15 (CT) tilt against the Hurricane on ESPN2. The Gophers will also appear on ESPN2 the following week in their home opener against Colorado State at 1 p.m. (CT) on Sept. 10.
