The Howard Pulley 16-and-under AAU teams battle

The Howard Pulley 17-and-under AAU team features some of the top prospects in the state as well as several players high on the Minnesota Gophers scouting radar. Their 16-and-under team has not gotten the local or national publicity as their older teammates, but several players have shown that they are ready to take their game to the next level. The Blue team defeated the White team 87-66 in a matchup held before the Howard Pulley Summer League playoff contest.

The Blue team was led by Jamar Diggs of De LaSalle, who scored a game-high 23 points. He was one of four double-figure scorers on the Blue squad. De LaSalle teammates Joe Scott and Anthony Humphries had 18 and 16 points, repsectively. Xavier Reed of Osseo had 12. Jacob Driscoll of Dilworth Glyden-Felton had six points and Alex Thomas of Marantha scored four.

Jerrell Matthews of Andover paced the White team with 22 points. Chad Jones of St. Bernard's added 11. Akeem Cubie from Holy Angels had eight points and Brett Hubler of Apple Valley scored seven. Jeremy Sutherland from St. Bernard's and Jared Gray from St. Thomas Academy had six points each. Brandon Mitchell of Minneapolis Patrick Henry had five points and D.J. Winfield of Mountain Iron Buehl added two in the loss.
