North Carolina's Good News Could Help Gophers

North Carolina head coach Roy Williams traveled to California last Tuesday to visit big men Deon Thompson, a 6-foot-9 center from Torrance (CA) High and Alex Stepheson, a 6-foot-8 senior from Harvard Westlake (CA) North Hollywood, the day after visiting 6-foot-11 junior Cole Aldrich of Bloomington (MN) Jefferson last Monday. The two California big men recently committed to the Tar Heels, which could help the Gophers in their recruitment of Aldrich.

Cole Aldrich recently narrowed his list of schools to three as he was considering Minnesota, Kansas and North Carolina. He is planning on visiting Kansas for the Midnight Madness.

North Carolina may no longer be looking for big men with the commitments of Deon Thompson and Alex Stepheson.

Williams has had great success in California as the head coach at Kansas, landing players like Paul Pierce, Eric Chenowith and Jacque Vaughn.
