Junior Center Cole Aldrich Will Pick Kansas

Cole Aldrich, a 6-11, 245-pound junior center from Bloomington (MN) Jefferson who is ranked the No. 8 player in the Class of 2007 by Scout.com, will announce his college choice of Kansas Wednesday. Aldrich had recently narrowed his list of schools to three -- Kansas, Minnesota and North Carolina.

Cole Aldrich averaged 13.5 points this past season as the Jaguars finished 9-15. He had averaged 12.0 points and 8.6 rebounds as a freshman, when Jefferson finished 12-13.

Aldrich attended the NBA Players' Association Camp and Reebok ABCD camp this summer and played with the Minnesota Magic AAU team this spring and summer. The Magic won the Kingwood Classic 16-and-under championship in April.

The loss of Aldrich is a tough one for Minnesota fans, who saw in-state recruits Isaiah Dahlman of Braham commit to Michigan State and Cory Johnson from Duluth East verbal to Iowa State.

The Gophers have received commitments from Bryce Webster of St. Thomas Academy and JC guard Limar Wilson. They have a commitment from junior Al Nolen Jr. They will look hard at Minnesota native Trevor Mbakwe of Henry Sibley and Blake Hoffarber of Hopkins as well as several JC players.
