The fifth game matches St. Thomas Academy versus Kathleen. St. Thomas is led by Bryce Webster, a 6-9, 255-pound senior center who signed with Minnesota, is considered one of the top big men in the state of Minnesota. Webster was named 2005 Minneapolis Star Tribune All-Metro first-team, as he averaged 21.8 points and 12.1 rebounds per game this past season. The Cadets finished the season 16-12, but are off to a 10-2 start this season. Webster is averaging 19.9 points per game and David Hicks is averaging 16.8 points for St. Thomas. The Cadets are projected to be one of the top Class AAA programs in the state as they also return starting senior Nate Birr and junior Jared Gray. Darius Redd, another starter, transferred to a school in Waterloo, Iowa.
Kathleen is 12-4 this season as the Red Devils are ranked #5 in Class AAAA. Kathleen is led by sophomore point guard Miguel Paul, sharpshooter Dominique Davis, juniors Idell Bell and Terrance Howell and 6-foot-7 Kevin Foster
The final contest pits Henry Sibley versus Linn Mar. Henry Sibley (8-4) is paced by Trevor Mbakwe, who averaged 24 points and 13.6 rebounds last season and was named first team All-Metro by the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Mbakwe scored 23 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and blocked four shots to lead the Warriors past St. Thomas Academy 65-59 Friday. He had missed his team's previous two games while under suspension for an undisclosed violation of school rules. He is averaging 20.0 points per contest. Mbakwe is joined by three teammates in double figure scoring. Bloomington Kennedy transfer Brook Zins is averaging 10.9 points per game, while 6-foot-6 junior Anders Halvorsen is adding 10.3 points and outside shooter Peter Leslie, a six-foot sophomore is contributing 10.2 points. Phil Haig, a 6-foot-4 junior, is one of the state's top all-around athletes. He is a standout quarterback and pitcher.
Linn Mar is led by Wisconsin signee Jason Bohannan, who is averaging 25.5 points per game. Jordan Printy is contributing 15.5 points. The Lions finished runner-up in Class AAAA, losing to Bettendorf 81-60 and were 24-2 last season. They won the 2004 Class AAA title, defeating Waterloo East 56-51.
