Anthony Tucker to Return after Suspension

Anthony Tucker, a 6-foot-4 sophomore shooting guard from Minnetonka (MN) High, will return to the Skippers' lineup Friday after missing the past two games, due to conduct detrimential to the team. Tucker, who is considered by many the top player in the state in the Class of 2008, is averaging 21.4 points per game for the Skippers. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Tucker's AAU coach, Chris Carr, to find out the latest on his talented wing player.

Anthony Tucker has led Skippers to an 8-12 mark this season as they have faced perhaps the state's most difficult schedule. Tucker has had four games of more than 30 points and four more contests of more than 20 points. He scored a season-high 38 points versus Henry Sibley as Minnesota head coach and director of operations James Ware were in attendance.

Tucker left the court during the Skippers' game versus Grand Rapids after a disagreement with Minnetonka head coach Jon Hedstrom. He was held out of the Skippers' 65-63 loss to Wayzata and 73-66 loss to Armstrong after being suspended due to conduct to detrimential to the team.

Tucker is the Skippers' leading returning scorer after averaging 14.1 points per game as a freshman. Tucker shot better than 41% from three-point range and pulled down 3.5 rebounds per game last year. Tucker was the first freshman to be named unanimous all-conference in the Classic Lake Conference and is already receiving interest from several Division I schools.

Minnetonka finished 11-16 last season and graduated Minneapolis Star Tribune All-Metro second-team selection Brett Tuma, who led the Classic Lake with 19.5 points per game.

The Skippers are led by sophomores Tucker and fellow classmates C.J. Erickson and Andy Burns. The 6-foot-6 Erickson became a starter in the middle of his freshman season, but broke his foot in early February. He has bounced back strongly and is averaging 14.0 points per game. Burns, who split time between the varsity and junior varsity last season, is averaging 12.1 points at the point guard spot.

Carr said that Tucker is expected to be part of his 43 Hoops AAU team this summer and will attend the adidas Superstar Camp in Suwanee, Georgia.

Tucker had told GoldenSports.Net recently that he was hearing from "Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Virginia, Northern Iowa and Michigan. Pretty much all the Big Ten schools."

Carr said that Florida has also been in contact.

Minnetonka faces Edina Friday and crosstown rival Hopkins on the 21st.
