Takais Brown had 31 points and 14 rebounds as Southeastern Illinois opened a 45-31 halftime edge and maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second period on the way to an 88-76 win on the road against Lincoln Trail (11-13, 4-6). Minnesota assistant coach Bill Walker watched Brown as the Gophers played Penn State on the road last Wednesday.
Brown is hearing from schools such as Minnesota, Purdue and Georgia. Southeastern Illinois head coach Todd Franklin, who is one of the top JC coaches in the country, prefers to have his players concentrate on the season, so Brown will likely make his decision after the season is completed.
Brown, who was the Great River Athletic Association Freshman of the Year last season, is averaging 19.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 62.4% from the field and 64.9% from the line.
