Minnesota will host Wake Forest in the N.I.T.

Minnesota will host Wake Forest in the first round of the NIT on Wednesday, March 15. Tip time will be 6 p.m., and will be broadcast live on ESPN2. Wake Forest finished a disappointing 17-16 overall and 3-13 in the ACC. However, they knocked off knocked off North Carolina State twice in the past week and advanced to the semifinals of the ACC Tournament.

Wake Forest was 11-2 before going 4-13 the remainder of the regular season. They were ranked #16 before losing to DePaul.

The Demon Deacons are led by seniors Justin Gray, Eric Williams and Trent Strickland. Greay is the leading scorer with a 18.4 points per game average. He is an excellent outside threat, who shot 36.2% from outside the arc. Gray leads the team with 4.2 assists per game.

Eric Williams is the team's top rebounder with 9.0 caroms per game. He is a strong inside player who toyed with entering the 2005 NBA Draft before deciding to return for his senior season. Williams shot 62.2% from the field and averaged 16.6 points per game.

Strickland added 11.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

Tickets are $20 for reserved general public and $5 for students and are available to purchase immediately on gophersports.com. Tickets will also be available for purchase in person or over the phone at (612) 624-8080 or 1-800-UGOPHER beginning at 9 a.m. Monday through the Athletics Ticket Office. Season ticket holders will receive priority seating if they order by the end of the day Monday.
