Minnesota Class 4A High School State Schedule

Minnetonka (MN) Hopkins opened first-round play with a 49-32 win over Lakeville North in the Class AAAA Minesota State playoffs. Blake Hoffarber, a 6-foot-3 junior guard, scored 13 points and grabbed four boards as Lakeville North, which finished the season just 10-20, utilized a stall to try to upend the defending state champions.

Minnetonka Hopkins is hoping to win their second straight Class AAAA title as they escaped with a 55-54 win over Eden Prairie in the Section 2 Finals Friday night as Blake Hoffarber hit a game-winning lay-up with under a second left. Hoffarber finished with 29 points. He was the hero last year after leading the Royals to a 73-60 double-overtime win over Eastview in the Minnesota Class AAAA championship game and winning an ESPY for Play of the Year in a shot that sent the game to the second overtime.

Hoffarber, who is one of the top shooters in the state, led Hopkins to a 31-1 mark and scored 53 points in the three state playoff games last season as a sophomore.

They are the prohibitive favorites, but must get past St. Paul Johnson, who is led by Fred Coleman, who signed with North Dakota State.
