Takais Brown, who was the Great River Athletic Association Freshman of the Year last season, averaged 19.3 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game, while shooting 62.4% from the field and 64.9% from the line.
"We are very pleased that Takais has joined our program," Georgia basketball coach Dennis Felton said.
"Takais is a strong, powerful post player who has been taught and coached very well the past two years by coach Todd Franklin at SIC. He helps us in the areas of strength and athleticism and should really contribute to our scoring and rebounding production in the frontcourt."
Brown is the second prospect of the 2005-06 class to sign with Georgia. Last November, 6-10 forward Albert Jackson of Earlington, Ky., and Oak Hill (Va.) Academy also signed a letter of intent to attend UGA.
