Minnesota Among Leaders for Top Safety
"Northern Illinois, Kansas State, Minnesota, Central Michigan, Purdue and Mississippi State are the schools that have offered me a scholarship." Sean Cattouse said.
"My favorites are Minnesota, Purdue, Kansas State, Ohio State, Michigan State, Northern Illinois and Illinois.
"I don't have a leader right now. I grew up a fan of Oklahoma but the past few years I've been pulling for Michigan State."
Cattouse was moved up to the varsity as a sophomore and played quarterback and safety. This past season, Cattouse passed for 700 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also rushed for 450 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Cattouse is very athletic and, although he does have the skills to play quarterback at the next level, most college coaches want him to play safety.
"Mississippi State and Northern Illinois are the only schools who are talking quarterback." Cattouse said.
"I'd like to play quarterback. I've never really had any quarterback coaching at all. I just showed up and was given the football. I feel that once I get coached up, I could be a good quarterback.
"I've done pretty well, but to tell you the truth, I've just been winging it out there. I think I could do very well with some coaching."
While it seems that several of the top prospects in the Midwest are making early commitments, that won't be the case with Sean Cattouse.
"I'm ready to have a breakout season." Cattouse said. "I don't want to commit when I think there could be a lot of more schools coming in on me once they see senior film.
"I'm going to wait until after the season to take my visits and I'll make a decision after that. I've already been to Purdue, Northern Illinois, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State for unofficial visits.
"I went to the Nike combine last week and I'm going to the Scout.com combine in Louisville (May 20) later this month. I'll probably go to a few one-day camps this summer. Michigan State, Ohio State and Iowa are three camps that I plan on hitting."
Cattouse also letters in basketball, baseball and track.
