Gopher Fund Golf Outings Start Thursday

The University of Minnesota athletics department will begin a series of golf outings featuring coaches from several of the top sports. The first tournament is Thursday, with two more to follow over the next month.

The University of Minnesota athletics department announced the lineup for the Golden Gopher Fund Golf Outings beginning June 15 in Perham. Head coaches that are scheduled to appear in Perham are John Anderson, Phil Lundin and Dan Monson. Lunch and a brief program will begin at noon with a golf scramble to follow at 1 p.m.

On Monday, June 19, the Gophers will visit Somerby Golf Club outside of Rochester. Morning shotgun begins at 7:15 a.m., with a lunch and program to follow at 12:30 p.m. Head football coach Glen Mason will be joined by Monson, Anderson, women's basketball coach Pam Borton, softball co-head coach Julie Standering, women's golf coach Katie Hanneman and head rowing coach Wendy Davis. An afternoon shotgun begins at 2:45 p.m.

The Gophers will make its annual visit to the Iron Range with a July 7th golf outing in Coleraine. Don Lucia and Joel Maturi will headline a noon program with a 1:15 p.m., teeoff. The final outing will be Friday, July 14 at Craguns in Brainerd. Head men's golf coach Brad James will give a clinic at 11 a.m., with a lunch to follow. Also scheduled to appear are Lucia, head volleyball coach Mike Hebert, co-head softball coach Lisa Bernstein.
