Anthony Jacobs Makes Hall of Fame Visit

Anthony Jacobs, a 6-foot-3 tailback and defensive tackle from Northfield (MN) High, is expected back today from visiting the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, according to his mother Caroline. Gopher fans are hoping that perhaps Jacobs will someday land in the Minnesota Football Hall of Fame. He committed to the program in March and is one of nine in-state recruits to verbal to the "U."

Anthony Jacobs is entering his second season at Northfield, where he led the Raiders to a 5-5 mark last season. He was listed at 250 pounds last year, but his mother Caroline said that he has grown to 274 pounds.

Jacobs, a Chicago native, transferred to Northfield high from Red Wing, where he only spent a few months.

Jacobs had 618 yards rushing as a junior and averaged 5.7 yards per carry and scored six touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Jacobs had 49 solo tackles and six sacks.

Jacobs showed his combination of strength and stepped in the Lakeville North Tri Track Meet as he won the 100-meter dash (11.75 seconds), the shotput (49- 5 1/2) and finished third in the discus (118-8). He had a season best shot put of 52-2. Jacobs finished second in the shotput in the Missota Conference Meet and was third in the 100 meter dash in the Section 1AA Meet.
