Kristen Dockery Commits to Minnesota

Kristen Dockery, a 6-foot-4 center from South Bend (IN) St. Joseph's, has verbally committed to play basketball for the University of Minnesota women's team.

Kristen Dockery chose Minnesota over Purdue, North Carolina State and Iowa. She averaged 12 points and eight rebounds a game for the Indians last year, which finished 22-4 and made it to the state tournament semifinals. They were the 2004-05 state champions and finished in the final four in 2003-04.

Dockery was a member of the Junior North All-Star team this summer and was an all-state honorable mention as a junior.

Dockery will be asked to carry more of a scoring load this season along with point guard Melissa Lechlitner, who was the runner-up for Indiana's Miss Basketball. Lechlitner, who will play at Notre Dame, is the school's all-time leading scorer.

Teammate Sydney Smallbone has verballed to Tennessee.

St. Joseph's played in the McDonald's Shootout in Chicago against incoming Gopher freshman Brittany McCoy's Loyola Academy and lost.
