JC WR Marc Cheatham Signs With Minnesota

Marc Cheatham, a 6-3 wide receiver from Laney (CA) CC, has signed with Minnesota. His paperwork was faxed to the Gophers' football office yesterday and he will enroll in classes in January. Cheatham will participate in spring practices, and with the loss of senior Logan Payne, he figures to compete for immediate playing time as a wide receiver.

Marc Cheatham visited Minnesota December 8th and committed shortly after returning. He led the Eagles to a 9-2 mark and a win in the Graffiti Bowl over Modesto 34-28.

Cheatham is considered to have good speed and could develop into a deep threat for the Gophers. He finished the season with 25 receptions for 452 yards (18.1 yards per reception) and five touchdowns. Cheatham was offered a scholarship from Temple and received interest from Colorado.

Cheatham is orginally from Encinal, California. He will join Laney teammate Logan Uu at Minnesota next season.
