Brandon Smith Rejoins Gopher BB Team

Brandon Smith, a sophomore guard/forward, has been reinstated to the Minnesota men's basketball team from his suspension, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Smith is expected to be in uniform for the Gophers' game versus Iowa Saturday.

Brandon Smith, who has started nine games this season, was suspended indefinitely from the team in late December by Molinari for what was described as a "violation of team rules."

Smith, who has not played since the loss at Nevada-Las Vegas on Dec. 22, missed games against Southeastern Louisiana, Purdue and Wisconsin. During that two-week span he did not practice with the team or sit on the bench for games.

Smith is averaging 4.7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game this season. Smith was ruled academically ineligible for the second semester by the Big Ten and missed the last 18 games of his freshman season. He played in just three high school games as a senior at Minneapolis (MN) Patrick Henry
