Blake Hoffarber Has 35 in Win over Minnetonka

Blake Hoffarber, a 6-foot-3 senior guard from Minnetonka (MN) Hopkins who signed with Minnesota in the early signing period, scored 35 points to lead the Royals to a 73-56 win over Minnetonka Friday. The win improved Hopkins to 16-1 with their lone loss being against North Hollywood Campbell Hall in the Timberwolves Shootout. They have been dominant beating every Minnesota team by double digits.

Blake Hoffarber scored 21 of his 35 points in the first half, but Minnetonka still took at halftime lead of 36-32. However, the Royals' depth proved to be too much as they outscored Minnetonka 19-6 to start out the second half.

The Skippers were without standout junior Anthony Tucker, who missed the game after passing out during lunch and Kyle Risinger who has been sidelined with a sports hernia. Tucker was taken to the hospital and underwent an EKG, but there was no determination of the cause. Tucker has offers from Western Michigan and Utah State.

Hoffarber's backcourt mate, Tyler Nicolai, finished with eleven points. Nicolai told GoldenSports.Net that he is hearing from Division II schools Minnesota-Duluth, Bemidji State and Winona State. UMD and Bemidji both offered him a scholarship. He is also hearing from Carleton, St. Thomas, St. Olaf and Hamline.

Minnetonka was led by junior C.J. Erickson with 14 points. He is hearing from schools such as Western Michigan, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin Green Bay, North Dakota State among others. Juniors Tyler Schilling and Ut Udo finished with 11 points each and junior point guard Andy Burns added 10.
