Kenny O'Neal Does Not Make Minnesota Trip

Kenny O'Neal, a 6-foot, 195-pound wide receiver from City College of San Francisco, did not visit Minnesota this weekend. The Gophers had hoped that he would visit their campus this weekend. However, there was a delay in getting a copy of his transcript from Florida State. O'Neal had committed to Tennessee, but the Gopher staff was hoping that they could change his mind.

Kenny O'Neal had 48 catches for 707 yards (14.7 yards per reception) and four touchdowns this season for City College of San Francisco.

The Gophers landed JC teammate Durrell Clark-James and recruited linebacker Devin Bishop.

O'Neal caught 35 passes for 850 yards and 24 touchdowns, including four on returns, as a senior at Oakland (Ca.) Skyline. He is the son of Kenny O'Neal, Sr., a former tight end for the New Orleans Saints.

He was ranked as the nation's eighth-best wide receiver by and scored 24 touchdowns in his senior year at Skyline. He redshirted his first year at Florida State and caught five passes for 110 yards and had 21 kickoff returns for 503 yards. O'Neal was listed third on the team's wide receiver depth chart, following Florida State's 2006 spring practice. However, he was dismissed from the team and transferred to nearby City College of San Francisco.

Younger brother Kyler was offered by Nebraska, Kansas and Oregon, but will sign with San Jose State, due to academics concerns.
