Kennedy C Joe Lund Gets Gopher Interest

Joe Lund, a 6-foot-3, 265-pound junior center from Bloomington (MN) Kennedy, has the potential to be one of the state's top linemen. Lund is getting recruiting interest from several top Midwest football teams, including Minnesota. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Kennedy head coach Dave Frisell to learn the latest.

Kennedy head coach Dave Frisell said that Joe Lund is hearing from Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Nebraska. Frisell said that his standout center is planning on attending several summer camps.

"He is going to Minnesota's, Iowa and Wisconsin's camp for sure. He and teammate Hakeem Bourne-McFarlane are going to the Wisconsin camp and may go to the Iowa camp together. Nebraska recently asked for film on him."

Frisell said that Lund has many strengths as a lineman.

"He is a big kid. an athletic kid. He has very good feet and is very athletic. He is a good puller from the center spot. He is very strong and has good numbers for a junior."

Frisell said that Lund bench presses 315 pounds, squats 350 and cleans 265 pounds. He runs a 5.0 40-yard dash.

"He has the potential to top out at the 290's."

Frisell said that Lund is working hard to improve as a player.

"He is a complete lineman at this point. He has fast feet for a lineman, but needs to continue to improve his lateral quickness. He needs to work on his lower body strength and his quickness. He is a well-kept secret."

Frisell said that Lund will throw the shot and discus again this season for the Eagles' track and field team. He is expected to show strong improvement this season after an inconsistent sophomore year.

"Hopefully for this year, he will continue to improve. He has really matured this year."
