Rodney Williams Jr. Shines at Boo Williams

Rodney Williams Jr., a 6-foot-6, 185-pound sophomore forward from Robbinsdale (MN) Cooper, shined this past weekend at the Boo Williams Invitational in Hampton, Virginia. Williams has already drawn considerable interest from high major programs and that list is likely to continue to grow as coaches watch him this spring. GoldenSports.Net recently caught up with Williams to learn the latest.

Rodney Williams Jr. averaged 17.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocked shots and 2.5 assists per game this season as a sophomore.

The following interview took place after a recent Howard Pulley practice.

What schools are you hearing from right now?
"Kansas, Wisconsin and Notre Dame."
Minnesota has hired a head coach since we last talked. Do you know much about Coach Smith or have you seen Kentucky play much on TV?
"Yes. I have watched them. The hiring excites me a lot."
What things are you trying to work on during this spring and summer?
"Outside jumper. My pull-up jumper and my defense."
You lost a talented teammate at Cooper like Dennis Williamson. What are your expectations for next season?
"I am the only starter coming back. I think that we will be all right. We've got a lot of young player coming back."
Do you have any size coming back?
"Not really."
