Armond Battle Adds Four New Offers

Armond Battle, a 6-foot-6 junior forward from St. Louis Park (MN) Benilde St. Margaret, has attracted plenty of Division I interest. Battle and junior teammate Jordan Taylor helped lead the Red Knights to the Class AAA state championship game. He is playing AAU basketball with the Howard Pulley Panthers and GoldenSports.Net caught up with Rene Pulley to learn the latest on his recruitment.

Armond Battle had previously received an offer from Wisconsin-Green Bay, but Rene Pulley said that his strong play with the Howard Pulley AAU team this past weekend has increased his looks and scholarship offers.

Creighton, Fairfield, Montana and Wisconsin-Milwaukee have offered and Wyopming has shown interest.

Battle recently told GoldenSports.Net that he is receiving plenty of mail.

"I'm getting letters from Michigan State, Iowa State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kansas, TCU, Tulsa, Northern Iowa and Western Michigan."

Battle and junior teammate Jordan Taylor are considered among the top players in the state in the Class of 2008. The duo led the Red Knights to a 27-5 record and a 20-0 mark in the North Suburban Conference as Battle averaged 20.1 points per game and Taylor added 19.5 points. They won 14 straight games before falling to St. Thomas Academy in the title game. Battle scored in double figures in 28 of 30 games and had 20 or more points 15 times. He had three games of 30 or more points, including 36 versus Columbia Heights.

The Red Knights had a 20-8 record and 11-3 mark in the North Suburban Conference during his sophomore season, falling to Class AAA champion De LaSalle 57-55 in the playoffs. Battle averaged 15.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as a sophomore. He scored in double figures in 23 of 27 games and had 20 or more points eight times.

Battle is playing for the Howard Pulley AAU team. He helped lead the Panthers to the bronze division champions of the Boo Williams Invitational. They were 4-2 in the tournament and reached the Four Four in the Kingwood Classic this past weekend. They will have this weekend off before playing in the Jayhawk Invitational the following weekend.
