Coleman, Tollackson Declare for NBA Draft

Minnesota juniors Dan Coleman and Spencer Tollackson have put their name into the NBA Draft, according to Kyle Coughlin of the Gopher sports information department. The two players have until June 18 to pull their names out of the draft and return for their senior season under new head coach Tubby Smith.

Dan Coleman averaged 14.2 points and a team-best 6.0 rebounds, while Spencer Tollackson averaged 12.0 points (third on the team) and 5.3 rebounds (second on the team) as Minnesota finished 9-22.

Kyle Coughlin said that the two entered the draft after talking to the compliance department. He said that coach Tubby Smith has previously recommended that players at Kentucky enter the draft to attract the attention of NBA scouts.

It is unlikely that Coleman and Tollackson would be invited to the Orlando pre-draft camp May 29-June 4. The two could work out for NBA teams, but they would have to pay for their own expenses to ensure their college eligibility.

Coleman and Tollackson join leading scorer Lawrence McKenzie as the Gophers return three double-figure scorers and their top four scorers next season.
