Alabama WR Ralph Spry, Jr. Picks Minnesota

Ralph Spry, Jr., a 5-11, 170-pound senior wide receiver from Auburn (AL) Alabama, will play for Minnesota next season, according to sources close to the situation. Spry was named honorable mention All-State by the Alabama Sportswriter Writer's Association as a senior, and the Alabama high school coaches selected him to represent Alabama June 2 in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic.

Ralph Spry Jr. caught 49 passes for over 1,000 yards in his senior season and scored 17 touchdowns.

Spry recently talked to about the latest on his recruitment by Minnesota

"I think I'm going to go and take a visit (to Minnesota) in a couple of weeks, and I'll check into it," Spry said.

"I came home from school, and my parents told me they (Minnesota) called and said they had seen my highlight film. A couple of days later, yesterday, my mom told me they want me to come up there as a true freshman."

Spry's father is the men's and women's head track coach at Auburn. He lead the Tigers' women's team to the NCAA chmapionship. His daughter Tiffany is on the track team.

Spry had considered walking-on the Auburn football team.

Spry is also a track athlete. He participates in the long jump, the triple jump and the 4x100.
