Ellsworth Guard Cody Schilling Gets Interest

Cody Schilling, a 6-foot-3 guard from Ellsworth, is one of the top players in the Class of 2008. Schilling led Ellsworth to a 32-1 mark and a Class A crown as a junior, scoring 28 points in the title game. He was named first-team Minnesota All-State by the Associated Press this year. GoldenSports.Net caught up with Schilling at the Sabes Invitational to learn the latest on his recruitment.

Cody Schilling averaged 28 points per game this season, leading Ellsworth to the Class A title. He finished with 28 points and 10 assists in the game. The victory was their 30th straight.

Schilling finished the quarterfinal game with 33 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four blocks in a 77-66 win over Rushford-Peterson. He made 19 of 21 free throw attempts and seven of 11 shots from the field. Schilling scored 35 points in the Panthers' semifinals win over undefeated St. Bernard's, who was led by Trevor Mbakwe.

Schilling is playing for the South Dakota Heat AAU team and played this weekend at Bloomington Jefferson in the Sabes Foundation Basketball Invitational.

Schilling told GoldenSports.net that he is hearing from North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Nevada along with Division II schools Winona State and Augustana. He said that Minnesota and their new coaching staff has called his school.

Schilling said that North Dakota State, South Dakota State and Wisconsin-Green Bay have offered him a scholarship as have the Division II schools recruiting him.
