Rodney Williams Adds Three New Offers

Rodney Williams Jr., a 6-foot-6, 185-pound rising junior forward from Robbinsdale (MN) Cooper, has drawn considerable interest from high major programs after a strong spring. Williams told GoldenSports.Net that he has picked up three more offers.

Rodney Williams Jr. averaged 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.4 blocked shots and 2.3 assists per game as he led the Hawks to a 21-7 record this season.

Williams picked up offers from Minnesota and Iowa State in April and told GoldenSports.Net this week that he added offers from Iowa, Purdue and Kansas.

Williams said that he is also hearing from Notre Dame, Bradley, Creighton, Wisconsin, Northern Iowa, North Dakota State and Western Michigan.

Cooper head coach Kurt Paulty previously told GoldenSports.Net that Williams can play at a very high level, especially if he takes care of his academics.

"He is at best a "C" student. If he gets his academics taken care of, he'll go some place big," Paulty said.

Paulty thinks that Williams has great potential.

"I think that next year, he will be one of the top three players in the state," he said. "He just needs to get stronger. Strength is a big thing. He needs to improve his defense, to understand team defense. Defense comes with maturity. His shot has improved, as has his shooting range and he needs to continue to improve his ballhandling."

"However, he has God-given talent. He can jump out of the gym and is long. He is a young sophomore at just 15. He does not turn 16 until July and will graduate at 17."
