Mike Broghammer Has Two Big Ten Offers

Mike Broghammer, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound junior forward from Minnetonka (MN) Hopkins, has received four scholarship offers, including two from Big Ten schools. He recently attended the Nike Hoops Jamboree and has played this spring for the Howard Pulley Panthers AAU program. GoldenSports.Net recently caught up with Broghammer to learn the latest on his recruitment.

Mike Broghammer averaged 8.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game last season for the Royals. They were upset by Minnetonka 55-53, a team that they had beaten twice in the regular season.

Hopkins, who was gunning for its third straight Class AAAA title, had not had a game against a Minnesota opponent that they won by less than 11 points before the loss to the Skippers. Their only other loss was to Campbell Hall 71-61 in the Timberwolves Shootout.

Broghammmer told GoldenSports.Net that he had recently picked up scholarship offers from Iowa and Purdue. The two Big Ten schools also offered Howard Pulley teammates Royce White and Rodney Williams.

Broghammmer had previously received offers from Wisconsin-Green Bay and North Dakota State.

Broghammmer said that he has heard from Minnesota, who has landed several Hopkins players, including Hoffarber, Dan Coleman, Kris Humphries and Jeff Hagen.

Broghammmer will be asked to carry more of the scoring load next season as they lose Minnesota signee Blake Hoffarber (25.2 points per game) and Tyler Nicolai (12.4). The Royals do have plenty of young talent, including fellow juniors Raymond Cowles (9.2), Trent Lockett (7.5) and Marcus Williams (5.3), senior center Anthony Di Loreto (4.7) and sophomore D.J. Peterson (3.3).
