Florida F Buford Foote Gets Gopher Interest

Buford Foote, a 6-foot-9 1/2 forward from Pensacola (FL) CC, is getting plenty of interest from Division I schools, including Minnesota. Gopher assistant coach Vince Taylor is going to watch Foote next Tuesday, according to Pirates head coach Paul Swanson. Golden Sports.Net cuaght up with Swanson to find out the latest on Foote's recruitment.

Buford Foote transferred to Pensacola after redshirting at Neosho (KS) CC last season. He will be joined on the Pensacola roster by Gene Blue, who was also at Neosho last season.

Foote played at Manatee (FL) CC as a freshman after attending Stone Mountain (GA) High.

Pensacola head coach Paul Swanson said that Foote is an intriguing prospect.

"He is a raw kid who needs to get stronger. He is a legitimate shotblocker who runs the floor. He's got natural shotblocking ability and runs the floor well. He's not ready now. We are working on his basketball skills."

Swanson said that Kansas, who is looking at Okaloosa-Walton duo Keith Ramsey and Tay Waller, is planning on seeing Foote next week. Minnesota is also looking at Ramsey.

Swanson expects the list of schools to grow for Foote

"Rodney Heard (who was Director of Scouting with the Atlanta Hawks and is now with the New York Knicks) is mentoring him and has contacted school about him.
